I'm looking to get a new pair of spikes for this season.  I'm currently looking at some mid-tops to give some support to my left ankle, which I've sprained a few times.  Any recommendations/opinions?

What is your favorite brand/type of baseball spikes?

I have been using Mizuno 9 spikes for well over four years now. I have used the suede ones.... not so good. As a pitcher tey lasted about seven games before they ripped. The G4 lows are the best i ahve worn so far. They actually lasted through one season (60 games) and i will be using them this year! They also offer half sizes which is super for comfort. They offer molded cleats too that grip really well. Many color varieties and on baseballsavings.com (my favorite website) they have them for super cheap. They offer many baseball products for cheap! I got a mizuno helmet, the new matte finish for like $26. Also, for the best batting gloves... frankling are the best. Thats what I use!

I also sell Maple, Birch, and Ash bats... MAXBATS. I sell them at a discounted price if your interested. Fully customizeable, free shipping, and free personalization.

I like the Nike Zoom Anniversary cleats. They're made of kangaroo leather and are very light. Kangaroo leather is the best for spikes and I've always used them. Mizuno 9 Spike is also a good shoe, but make sure you get the leather shoe. You'd be surprised what a difference leather makes compared to synthetic materials. They may cost more, but look for the sales. Don't forget, they're your feet and they should be well taken care of. Buy a good shoe.

definilty leather... the synthetics tend to rip apart at seams. Mizuno is the only shoe i have worn that fits true to size. They also feel like i am not wearing cleats... thats important when your faster...

I really like the Akadema Zero Gravity Spikes.. Super light weight and hold up good... They say they have spike placement to help prevent fast start stress www.Akademapro.com When you call ask for Bill in Sales. He is very knowlodgeable on these...

I think, Mizuno 9 spikes, are the best ever.
For me, they lasted for 2 years!!

I have had a couple different types in college. Ringor makes a pretty good spike. Also Nikes are always one of the best. Addidas makes a good spike but seem to be very heavy.

Ringor no longer sells/produces baseball gear, it wasnt generating enough profit they only do softball stuff now in addition to the other sports they cater to.

Mizuno Vapor (low cut for me - there is also a mid) - not sure if they're on generation III or IV right now - I've had each of the first three - they're the lightest cleat I've been able to find - and they do have the Mizuno "9 spike" tech (or pattern) - I won't say they're the most durable but I'm not unhappy with them, they have served me well, I've stole a lot of bases in them .. used to buy from bplowestprices.com , they really did have the lowest prices a number of years ago - but they sold out to a bigger outfit - now I watch eastbay.com and other places for sales ...

... just went to the Mizuno website - looks like the Vapor G4 is the current model - at 12 ounces -- i thought the original thru G3 were like 11.7 oz. but my memory could be failing me ... i'll throw in the picture - I admit they don't look impressive - all I can say is I like them ...

I have the UnderArmour Heater Mid 1 and they are the most comfortable and durable spikes Ive ever had. Light, comfy, and there is a lot of support for your ankles. I highly recommend them. I got them for $60 off of the intenet. they are normally $85-$95. It's worth it.

FYI...check the weight on those UA spikes. They're known to have the heaviest spikes out there. Nike and Mizuno are tops out there although Nike has fallen behind on the traction department.

Well I don't wear spikes no more (just coach) but the most comfortable turf shoes I found and they run true to size is the Mizuno. My Son will wear nothing but the Puma Cell Kat II Mid spikes.
