I just got a new glove. Anybody got any tips on how to break it in? And how to take care of it?

Alot of different things you can do. The Rubberband trick and putting it under your bed. Or the Oil/Microwave method.
Park under your tire with the rubber band around it.
massage shaving cream and play catch.
I have found the best way to break in a new glove is to,
coat the glove with minkoil, wrap in tinfoil, put in oven on
300-350 for 15-20 mins. Repeat process as needed.
Be sure to wrap in tinfoil very good, or the next thing your
wife pulls out of the oven will smell like your mit.
To keep your form, ball and rubberband trick

Thanx
I always used shaving cream all over the glove to help soften the leather. Also put a ball in the pocket then tied a shoelace around the glove and let it sit for a few days
The ONLY product I use on my glove is Old Master Leather Conditioner. I have used many different products over the years and nothing compares to it. Do not use anything with alcohol as it can tend to dry out the leather. Also, a bad habit of spitting into you glove can damage the leather as well. This was difficult for me to break. I have a glove mallet that I use when I'm not playing catch to break in the pocket. Also, put a ball in the pocket and tie it shut. And be sure to play lots of catch.
How does spitting in your glove damage the leather?
Spitting in your glove WILL damage your glove. Over time. So will sweat.

The enzymes in your saliva will begin the digestive process. Over time, you will notice the affect spit/sweat have on leather - the leather will actually crack in the areas you spit!

I have an old Rawlings PROTB Trapeze Heart of the Hide glove that proves this. I never oiled that glove, only spit in the pocket and wiped my brow with the pinky finger. Both areas are the only part of the glove that are cracked and splitting.

All these little things will affect you glove over time. If you are only planning on using it for a year or so, by all means - cook that baby! These are only tips to help you keep your glove for a long haul.
Dylan.. Go to shoe store and get Mink Oil w/Lanolin.. Massage liberal amount into pocket everyday. Stick a ball in pocket and tie close... Play catch or toss ball to ceiling and catch.. That's how i worked in my catcher's mitts..

What brand is it?
