H.S. tryouts are getting set to begin in our area... Any ideas on how to help a Freshman on getting ready? Thanks.
One area I have noticed over the years is a lot of throwing before tryouts. Parents encourage their kids to do a lot to build up their arms. They feel the more they do it, the better their son's chances of making the team. When tryouts come, their arms are tired. Parents mean well but they just don't get it. Same with pitchers who take private lessons. I would talk to your potential tryout players and let them know to rest their arms and not throw as much. This will allow their arms to be good to throw during tryout week.
Great point. Thanks David.
