I own a small bat reselling company. I have seen a lot of discussion on making bats but very little on selling. Do you all just make them and figure they will come or is there a methodology to selling that you follow ...what makes one bat sell more than others? Why is a 33-30 the most popular? Has the internet helped you sell direct or do you still depend on someone knocking on doors? With BBCOR rules will you start to make composite wood bats? (Laminated wood, Bamboo, Radial etc.).

Already make and sell solid one piece and All Wood Performance engineered wood bats.

Duane 33-30 is most popular among. HS AND COLLEGIATE players because that's what the metal bat industry set as a standard. Can't go by that in wood. Selling has too many variables. That discussion could take forever. For you its different. You're trying to sell to a far more broad based clientele than I. Problem with that in my opinion is you end IP with way too many options and it becomes too confusing to the players. Take just bats.com for example. They represent everyone under the sun. How can a player feel comfortable knowing he's getting a product that's reputable when the company selling them doesn't have any loyalty to one or the other. There is no representation of a product that the company puts a good backing behind its just more choices and more confusion IMO. There are many opinions regarding sales and I'm sure Walt will have a different view but also agree to that. My personal feeling is I'm order to be successful at sales you have to be comfortable with and believe in the product you sell. Having said that it needs to be a product with some integrity behind it or you won't get repeat business in the bat industry. Some will tell you it doesn't matter what your selling because there is a buyer for everything. Thats true too but I wouldn't buy squat from a guy that doesn't care about what he's selling to his customers. Just my opinion.
thanks makes good sense I do sell some wood but 90% is bats with warrenties baum, powerwood, brett, I have one player that all he uses is your 331 and i use your 225  I think that some online companies have to have all the names so they have the key words when people search.
the keyword search would certainly help by having so many companies repped. What I don't understand is that so many of the bats can be bought direct for the same or cheaper unless they are on close out. But many mnay of the Justbat stuff are Xouts and blems. So they are cheap. We sell our BPAS bats only to locals and loyal customers. We don't end up with a lot of them anyway.

We may start selling the Ironsides series again. Its an engineerd bat but we have our hands full with our solid wood bats and cant find a good company to manufacturer our blanks yet. the one we had locally just went outta business so I'm back to square one looking for a new engineered billet manufacturer. I'll let you know when we get it figured out.

Give me a call sometime Duane, we have some things to discuss for next year.

Thanks,
Chris
We decided to make and sell only the very best in quality wooden bat. They do cost more but they also last. For 18 years now we have put quality wooden bats in the best up and coming hitters in the USA. We talk with them and receive input one on one,day to day. Also the local league ,Cape Cod Baseball League, the pitching hits 90 MPH every game and often 96 and more. The runner up to the batting title this year at a BA of .348 (champ BA .352)  had 134 AB in 40 games and used just one of our bats 95% of the time. Dirty, full of pine tar and dented,a hitters tool of beauty ( 33",243 birch ). A great hitter, never broke a bat at the plate.Quality wood and a great hitter combine to give a bat a reputation.
