Question:  I'm not asking as a criticism, but from a business perspective. I now see wood bats selling for $175 to almost $200 from many of the known brands and even some of the mid-sized companies.

Has the price of wood increased to the point that companies now have to charge that much to make a profit?

Buck.  I put a "free" ad on craigslist and have no shortage of people who come by and pick it up.  I just leave it outside in contractor garbage bags and it goes away!  Same with all my scrap lumber.
