Clayton,

If you could send me some video, I will break you down and send you a detailed ( very easy to understand) analysis report on your flaws and how to fix them.

But, lets say you don't have video. I would suggest you work hard at throwing 4 seam fastballs, 2 seam fastballs , 4 seam box change-up and 2 seam box change-ups. Aim at 4 spots: high and inside , low and inside, high and outside, low and outside.

If you are throwing with your BODY and NOT your arm! All 4 of the above mentioned pitches will have good movement. Everybody wants velocity. You mentioned  you throw 88-91. That is perfect speed as long as the ball is moving. I like to see our 4 seam fastball @ around 91 and the 4 seam box @ around 73.Be patient , this won't happen over night.  None of this will work with an arm thrower. I hope you throw with your body not your arm. The problem most pitchers has is the amount of useless drills they do. I don't teach drills I teach kids to PITCH!

If you get a chance give me a call or send me an e-mail. I am a pitching instuctor NOT a pitching Coach. Most coaches think they can instruct. I have met very few who can. I hope this helps you out. From your pictures it looks to me like you just need some fine tuning, many times we can do that on the phone or through e-mail.

Look forward to hearing from you

Clay you seem to have good numbers 90 FB from what you say.  I would suggest you first concentrate on getting your season stats looking great.  It seems like you have not had a chance to play, but hopefully this season you will.  So,when you do take advantage of your starts.  I know stats are not everything but it will be considered.  You will need to throw over 90+ if you have a 10+ era.

In the mean time do what your doing and be proactive in your pro ball pursuit.  Find out who your local scouts are and call them up, a good chance they will not come out unless you throw over 90.  If not ask them who their bird dog or associate scout is for your area.  You will have a better chance of having him look at you and get your name out.

Hi Clayton, do you a video of yourself pitching?  If you do, I will make a recommendation on your behalf if it warrants one.  Get back to me if you have a video.

Thanks,

Mark Cahill
