Ryan, Stay away from static stretching. In other words stretching when the body is not moving. This kind of warm-up has been around forever and it has been proven NON BENEFICIAL! It actually promotes injury. Have your catchers do little hop and ski…

Dave, Video tape your son. I would suggest you have him throw a 4 seam fastball and a 4 seambox change-up, nothing more. At 12 years old alot of pitchers seem to throw hard, and they are. Problem is, if they don't have good mechanics, the bat speed…

Martin, I would concentrate on your stride and the speed of movement your lower body produces. I have taught my pitchers for 24 years that the arm does only 2 things. 1 it holds the ball and 2 it aims the ball. THATS IT! When you teach your lower bo…

He should drive his front hip toward home,as hard,as fast and as long as possible. Try to get his stride length at least 100% of his height, and make sure he is moving sideways toward home plate. Before I try and fix the upper body, I ALWAYS work on…

Coach Ayres, think about this, we both have experienced playing minor league baseball, and being involved with the lack of experienced, knowledgeable and competent pitching and hitting "TEACHERS" who have the experience, knowledge and ability to "TEACH" the individual at these two most important positions how to execute their proper fundamentals and mechanics successfully from the ground up, especially important for the pitchers, who flail around, short stride, rotate too early, violently recoil their arms and never finish their movement, forward motion, most do not even know how to get to their finish position, have never been there, stutter step, start then hesitate and attempt to generate forward arm velocity with arm speed only never being taught how to properly do so by using their whole body's from the ground up which is the very reason for the enormous amount of chronic sore arms and surgeries from the major leagues, down through the minors and on down into our youth players as young as 13 yrs. old ,I see no improvement in sight until there become more students of the game, pitching and hitting in particular who learn to become competent enough to "TEACH" pitchers in particular how to properly use their whole body's to deliver the thrown baseball so as to alleviate the tremendous strain and negative effects that the unnatural act of throwing creates on the arm, as a scout are still right next to this situation, how do you see this sad situation?
