Pro players  "Bone" their bats pregame to harden them.  They all do it, and they claim it does make the bat harder.  It only takes about 3 minutes of rubbing the bats hard along the bathroom sinks in any clubhouse in baseball. I'm a pitcher, and I don't think it's cheating.  They are just hoping that "boning"  their bats will lead to more success.  They still have to hit the ball hard...
