"I actually used a table saw to tdo this a few years ago when I needed some for decorations for a sign.  The kerf is thicker than with a band saw, but:   1. I don't have a band saw. 2. It is better for straighter cuts.    I…"

Cutting a bat in half

I am wanting to use bats for the chair molding in my office.  Have any of you ever cut bats in half?  What kind of jig did you make?  I tried to cut one on my bandsaw and then ran it over the jointer, but I'm not happy with the way it came out.  Seems like the table saw would make a better cut, but I can't  figure  out how to run it straight through.  Any suggestions? See More

"I'm about 40 min., and I use a roughing gouge and 1/2" spindle gougue along with a skew.  Probably if I got a 1" gouge I could be down to 2 tools, but I am too cheap to buy more until I grind these down."
