Russell Martin's Laziness!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, maybe it's just the word I used that threw you off. Maybe lazy was the incorrect word to use but it's just tough for me to imagine that in a Major League organization that uninformed would be a…

Russell Martin's Laziness!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill, I'm not meaning my comments to be nasty at all, but as I said because it's a learned technique and Russell Martin DOES have the hands and quickness to play SS/2B therefore he should have no pr…

Russell Martin's Laziness!!!!!!!!!!!

You just don't seem to get it do you. Blocking is a learned technique like the proper footwork to fielding a ground ball. Martin has been in the Major Leagues now for 4 years now and he still hasn't…

Mattingly V-Grip™

No it's garbage!!!! THe whole point of it is to teach you to hold the bat properly in the fingers to increase bat speed and extension but I've already sold over 40 of my ProGrip's to boys at travel b…

If you get your hitters in a good hand set then that high front elbow gets removed. But I agree, I don't want a high lead arm and elbow and a low rear one. Thats a stance foundation issue and not an issue related to launch and contact. I agree, dont…

I Just don't like forcing the elbow down at stance like a lot of college coaches do. Actually I don't like forcing it up either but most young kids want to start with the front elbow up and the back down which with your scenario you would leave alon…

Eugene and Kip. I'll leave this alone after this post. I wanted to add a swing comparrison of 3 hitters with different elbow sets and looks. Its why I say just let the elbow do what it does. I see a vertical bat and a 2 plane swing being more respon…

Let me add a "cue" here Eugene. If you draw a line (visually) while you watch the clips below. From mauers and Ortiz hands down both forearms to each elbow and then connect the elbows with another line you now have a visual "TRIANGLE". Watch closely…

Eugene, my comments were not personal. I, just frankly, disagree with you. We have no idea what a 10 yr old or 12 yr old young person will be like as a hitter when they grow in to an adult. Same for a 15 yr old. Teach the swing of the best and the y…

And I'm pretty sure you misunderstood my previous statement about the Mauer/Ortiz concept because your answer didn't really have anythign to do with it. I respectfully disagree with your opinion of what a teach and no teach aspect of the swing is. I…

I'm certainly not sterotyping them I am merely stating fact. Dustin Pedroia has UNBELIEVABLE hand eye coordination and eye sight that many do not have. Look how hard he swings and how often and consistent he makes contact. As for him and others like…

Eugene...anyone must first understand how to apply in the teaching process the upper level swing...so I respectfully disagree. Most instructors (almost everyone of them) at the youth league and amatuer levels teach the swing they learned when they p…

Jeff, I completely agree with you and it is my belief in teaching hitters to be COMPLETE HITTERS with the ability to drive all pitches in all zones efficiently. There is a certain swing that is more condusive to that and there is also a swing that…

This I can agree with.

I believe that hitters should drive the ball. Chauufer it. Center the ball as many times as possible. I do not want hitters hitting the ball on the ground. I want one and two hop line drive groundballs and line drives and slightly lofted line drives…

Let me be clear I am also not saying an upward back elbow is wrong!!! I am merely presenting and posing a question. I did just write a LONG essay with questions and answers but accidentally deleted it like a JERK and its too late to re-write lol, so…

Jeff I pose a question to you and I am just taking 1 particular example from Major League Baseball and the best of the best if you will to ask this......You claim the back elbow is a no teach..........Would you agree that Joe Mauer is an all-around…

Kip, Yes I played for Mike Evans at Bellevue! I also worked with Rick Down for a long time at my Baseball Academy and you probably knew him from your days in the Astro organization. What a great conversation we have going here because I agree with…

Joe Mauer because he is a Complete and Balanced hitter. He looks to accomplish different tasks in different situations and has a balanced approach at the plate. Albert Pujols and A-Rod are up there also. I love to watch Jeter and Placido Polanco hit as well.

Roger Clemens because of his Bulldog mentality and work ethic.
More About Me:
My name is Eugene Bleecker and I am a Baseball Instructor and coach. I have been a student of the game my entire life with 10 years of Baseball Academy, 5 years of College ball as a Scholarship Athlete, 3 years of Semi-Pro Ball and 8 years of coaching and Private Instruction. Baseball is my passion My work as well as my free time are devoted to it. I love what I do and wouldn't change it for anything.
I also now own a company called Pro Grip, Inc. We sell Instructional Hitting DVD's as well as a Product I invented and patented called ProGrip. In Baseball like every other club and raquet spot there is a fundamentally correct way to hold the club/raquet to set yourself up for the most amount of success. In Baseball there is a universally taught theory of holding the bat in your fingers to provide for the most amount of Bat Speed and Extension through the baseball. Most baseball players hold a bat wrong when they first pick it up and ProGrip re-teaches the hands the proper muscle memory to hold the bat by pushing the bat out of the palms and into the fingers. Through repetition it will become comfortable and automatic for the user to hold the bat properly. When I was developing the DVD to teach people how to use ProGrip, I realized that ProGrip will only be able to help about 70% of players because alot of Ballplayers already hold the bat properly. This lead me to developing my Instructional DVD's because I realized that I have something that can help EVERY baseball player and that's information. From the age of 7 I literally pursued my passion with a vengeance and learned everything I could about the game from some of the premiere coaches in the game. The reason I became a coach was to pass on all of this knowledge and this became an opportunity to do it on a large scale. This resulted in the development of the COMPLETE HITTING DVD. I designed the DVD to put the tools of a hitting instructor into the hands of every Parent, Player and Coach with a desire to learn the proper fundamentals to the swing. Hitting instruction is expensive but this DVD brings it right into your home. COMPLETE HITTING is something you can always go back to and learn from to make you a better hitter. I am prouder of COMPLETE HITTING than anything else I have ever done in my life!

Unless you've been taught by a professional I bet you hold the bat wrong too!! I challenge all of you to look at your grip and then go to my website or ANY baseball website to find out the proper grip.

Check out videos from our COMPLETE HITTING DVD on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/ProGripBaseball

WOW WHAT A LINEUP!!!!!!!

The Yankees just agreed to a 3 team 7 player deal sending Ian Kennedy to the D-Backs along with Phil Coke and Austin Jackson to the Tigers. In return they get CURTIS GRANDERSON to patrol center field next season. Given Granderson's swing and power to the pull side I expect him to do HUGE things in that unbelieveable Yankee lineup next season.
I hate you George!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Russell Martin's Laziness!!!!!!

Many of you know Russell Martin to be one of the best young catcher’s in baseball. He constantly gets praised for his defensive abilities and his arm behind the plate but I have another opinion. He is LAZY!!!!
He receives well, he has a quality arm but there is another aspect of his defensive ability that is SEVERELY lacking and it’s something that can EASILY be changed if he put the time in to work on it. This aspect of catching also plays a HUGE role in your pitcher… Continue

Our Responsibility as Coaches, Instructors and most importantly Mentors:

Things we unfortunately can’t teach our students are Heart, Drive and Determination. In the game of baseball, players with greater athletic ability constantly get surpassed by players that work harder. I don't think it is responsible as a coach to EVER tell an athlete that they cannot make it. As a coach, instructor and most importantly mentor, we should be teaching our athletes that they CAN make it, but WON"T unless they put in the time. We should be teaching them how to s… Continue

CCC'S to success in Baseball........COMMITMENT to becoming a COMPLETE PLAYER= CONFIDENCE in your abilities

COMMITMENT to becoming a COMPLETE PLAYER = CONFIDENCE in your abilities!
This concept is something I developed and preach to my players. This idea can be incorporated into any program and will drive your players towards achieving their goals. If they COMMIT themselves to becoming COMPLETE Baseball players, in turn they will develop the CONFIDENCE that is necessary to succeed on the field.

Commitment to Excellence:
In life no matter what you are trying to accom… Continue

I like that idea... 9 zones is relative to 9 innings and easy to remember... i try to keep things simple for my hitters - the game is so complex as it is already.
