Showing emotion during the game

Posted on January 31, 2010 at 5:19pm 2 Comments

I for one am against showing emotion in a game. i believe showing frustration after a strike out or fist pumping after a hit are things a player shouldnt do. I do not believe FEELING these things is wrong but i dont believe you should ever let the opposing team in your head. What do you guys think? me and my father have been discussing this for some time now, wanted to see what other people think.

Nutrition Supplements for a High School Baseball Player

hello,

i am a slender outfielder and have heard the famous line "you need to get bigger" countless times. although i can drive the ball to the warning track on occasion, i feel that if i were able to gain 10 or 15 extra pounds i would be a five tool player. Because of my fast metabolism it is a constant struggle for me to put on weight and i have experimented with whey protein but i cant find one that works and has a tolerant taste. are there any of you out there that know about any good… Continue

ANY TIME I CALL A SCOUTING DIRECTOR ABOUT A PLAYER THE FIRST THING THEY ASK IS THE AGE AND THE SIZE OF THE PLAYER.IF THEY LIKE WHAT THEY HEAR WE HAVE A CONVERSATION. NUTRITION IS GREAT BUT A WEIGHT LIFTING PROGRAM WILL FILL YOU OUT, A LITTLE AT A TIME. JUST LIKE ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT YOU HAVE TO DO THE HARD WORK. WWW.HENRYSBASEBALLCLUB.COM

It's hard to say why these things aren't working for you right now since you haven't mentioned what it was that you've been doing. How are you taking the whey protein? How often do you eat? What do you eat? What about weight training? There are a lot of variables that play into this.

First, you need to get a weight training program that is geared toward building strength specifically. Let a trainer know what you are after. Get a full body workout that works the body's core since baseball player movements are all geared toward the core.

Second, you need to be eating 5-6 meals a day with a ratio of 2/1 or 3/1 carbohydrates to protein. Make sure they are good whole foods, too.

Third, whey protein is good. I use a whey protein I find in Wal Mart for like $15. I know taste is always a barrier for people, but you'll get used to it...especially when you get completely focused on what it will do for you. Plus, you have to be creative when making the protein shakes. You don't have to do just as it says on the labels. For me, I buy the chocolate flavor whey protein. When I make a shake, I put maybe 1/4 cup or so of plain, non-fat, all natural yogurt, a couple of large frozen strawberries, scoop of whey protein, 1/2 tsp or so of honey and about 1/3 cup of skim milk. Put it all in a blender and it makes a shake that, to me and my wife, tastes like an ice cream sundae. They are tasty and easy to drink. If you are adding weight, then add another scoop of protein and add a little more milk to smooth it out.

Lastly, creatine can be helpful if it used the right way. It is used to help your body recover more quickly during and after workouts so you can hit the weights a little harder. I used it for a while, but for me it was not really worth the money or the constant mixing. Plus, some protein powders will contain creatine in the mix.

Sounds like a lot...it is. But if you get the right weight training programs from a good trainer and cycle the workouts every few weeks, along with eating right and often, plus a protein shake before and after workouts you should get some gain from that.

Jason, you need a 3 minute tape of yourself. 1 1/2 minutes offense, and 1 1/2 minutes defense. Send the tape to the schools you are looking to get into and hope there is a response. It looks like you are playing high school ball. Scouts should be coming around.

Cool. I only asked because I had asked a couple coaches on here to give you some feedback. When they went to look, they were no longer there.
