Joel D. Katte commented on Bill Stanton's blog post Kid can do it all on one leg- Inspirational story
"INSPIRING! It reminds me of the movie A WINNER NEVER QUITS, an unknown baseball film that all baseball fans should check out. It is the Pete Grey story, a true story about a boy who lost his arm but still managed to make it to the Major Leagues.…"

TWITTER ‘Favorite Baseball Moment’ CHALLENGE CONTINUES

To say I am ecstatic about the response I have received from my first blog entry would be an understatement. As I write this, we are at 39 comments and counting! Thank you to all who contributed to the “Twitter Favorite Baseball Moment Challenge” and to those who passed my link on to others. The link even landed in the hands of Wisconsin Governor Candidate Mark Neumann who tweeted (Dang, I told myself I wasn’t going to use those Twitter expressions!) me the following message: “@StrongWisconsin…See More

Who is your favorite hitter and why?
Tony Gwynn - From what I've gathered he stressed hit up the middle and if you're a little early (and you bat R like me) you should end up in left center gap and if you're a little late you should end up in right center gap...even groundballs have best chance for base hits up he middle since only fielder is fifty-five ish feet away.
Who is your favorite pitcher and why?
Satchel Paige - longevity and loose arm
More About Me:
My baseball memoir COUNTY STADIUM KID describes how falling in love with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1982 at the age of five fueled my lifelong passion of someday playing professional baseball. I was drafted by the Angels out of high school in 1995 but released a year later. I became a high school English teacher and baseball coach and later became an elementary school principal. I also teach grad classes on education for Aurora University. During book release tour, I hope to speak to athletes' parents and coaches warning them of some of the potential pitfalls when putting all energies into fulfilling dreams of Division I scholarships and professional contracts. I also hope to do a few small scale hitting instruction clinics along the way.

COUNTY STADIUM KID EXCERPT: “RICKEY HENDERSON THE GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT”

Posted on August 7, 2009 at 2:56pm 0 Comments

(From www.countystadiumkid.blogpost.com)

I have heard from some County Stadium Kid readers about a few experiences with players who “snubbed” them. However, it seems for the most part, people reading this blog have had great experiences with Major League Baseball players. In fact, some have mentioned how players have gone out of their way to make their fan experiences even more memorable. Read my first three blog posts and you’ll see 80 or more comments about favorite baseball… Continue
