"Hi Tom, Do you have a link to webpage for this new wood bat rule so I can know more about it?  The only bat rule that I'm aware of that will take effect in 2018 is from USA Baseball for Youth Leagues to get wood-like performance standard:…"

Juan Baret replied to Sarah Bernier's discussion What age should players start practicing with a wood bat?
"Hi Sarah, from my personal experience I believe that kids should start using a wooden bat from the beginning of their baseball experience. This will help them get the true feel from the game, and actually would help them when they have used an…"

"Call me old school but I still like the human element aspect of the game....I like how instant replay is helping get calls more accurate on the field but they need to find a way to speed up the process. I like the light flash idea in the mask and to…"

Swinging For Sean - Baret Bat honoring a fallen soldier

CheckSwing,I recently I made a custom bat for a young man named Andrew Widiker from Wiscosin, and he wanted to honor his cousin Army Specialist Sean Cutsforth who made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our freedoms in Afghanistan. I was so touched by this that I wrote a story to keep Sean's memory alive. Please see link below for my published story and let me know what you think. It’s a 4 min read. Thank You…See More

Broken bat incident at Fenway Park

Hello fellow batmakers,As you may be aware there was an broken bat incident over the weekend in the game against the A's and Red Sox in which Brett Lawrie's bat broke and hit a fan (Tonya Carpenter) in the head that caused serious injuries. Fortunately her condition has been upgraded from serious to fair. Last night the MLB commisisoner  Rob Manfred addressed the issue by stating that MLB will re-evaluate fan safety at the ballparks to include more safety netting for the fans and of course the…See More
