Softball Playing Experience:
Who is your favorite hitter and why?
Willie Mays
Mays was the second-best player in MLB history. (First was Babe Ruth) The first game I went to as a kid was also Mays' first game after being called up from Minneapolis (at the Polo Grounds). Mays did everything exceptionally well except pitch and he would have been an outstanding pitcher as well. If he wouldn't have lost two years to the military and hadn't played in a terrible hitting park, he'd have a hundred and fifty more home runs than Aaron, who hit in a bandbox for most of his career.
Who is your favorite pitcher and why?
Juan Marichal. Because he was simply the best. He's the guy I'd want if I had to win one game and had to have a guy who could pitch all 9 innings.
More About Me:
I'm a writer (two baseball books and a third on the way. I've published nine books total. I'm affiliated with my friend Rich Dunno in developing a territory for Perfect Game USA. My son was an outstanding pitcher, recruited by many colleges, but who decided to pursue a career in film and ended his career.

Hi Les,

Re: your LL book, I'd like to read it and see if parents new to coaching would be interested in reading it too. I'm going to refer these folks to "Little League Confidential" already, just thought they'd like to know what they're getting them in for when they sign up.

I thought I knew Dan's name from somewhere. He's over at Ct. Baseball Academy in Hartford. Now that's a place I'd love to get involved with.

I can't say I know your friend Dan, but it seems like he's a good man to know. Seems like he's doing a great job with the P.G. events.
