Arguing With an Umpire is Road Rage

Road rage is normal.  Acting violently on that rage is not.  Heated, blood boiling, screaming at an umpire that has clearly cheated you is normal too.  Physically assaulting an umpire is not.  Why…Continue

Type of hitter... Power? Average? Slap? Pull?
Power from the right side with enormous plate coverage using 35" bat. Hits to all fields. Doubles are king. Homers are overrated, but still fun.
If you pitch, what type of pitcher are you... Power? Ground ball, Fly ball, Knuckleball?
Power pitcher for an over 45 league player but has nasty stuff and commands all five pitches.
I currently:
Play Baseball, Am a Hitting Instructor, Am a Pitching Instructor, Play Slow Pitch Softball, Play Wiffleball, Enjoy watching games
Baseball Playing Experience:

Baseball Coaching Experience:

Softball Playing Experience:
Slow Pitch
Who is your favorite hitter and why?
Tris Speaker, never saw him play but major league record for doubles says all I need to know. Active players, I like Derick Jeter because I have never seen anyone take a high inside fastball and knock it out of the park the other way like he does. Third place is a tie between Chase Utley and Hunter Pense. I like the swing mechanics of both players.
Who is your favorite pitcher and why?
Greg Maddux. His sinker defies physics.

Have a Merry Christmas from a crusty old HS and College Ump in WV, VA, MD, PA and OH. I enjoy your rants about MSBL. I played for a MSBL team until it just started to hurt tooooo much and the other teams complained because I would umpire some games and my average went up that year. LOL. " He see's all the pitcher's it is not fair"

I really appreciate the words.  It's been a great experience joining this team and getting to catch for you.  It's fun to throw down a sign, pick a spot and have someone that can hit it! I have been working really hard to be a good backstop.  I hadn't caught much since sophomore year in HS when I moved to the outfield. I picked it back up last year. If I had it over to do again, I wish I would have stayed behind the plate in HS and college.  It's way more fun!  See you Saturday.

The Most Underrated Aspect Of The Game

Posted on August 28, 2012 at 11:30am 0 Comments

Pitching, defense, and the three run homer has been the key to winning many games, series and championships.  Whether you agree with this philosophy is not an argument I will undertake here.  It does; however, cover the major aspects of baseball: pitching, defense and offense.  When all three are performed at a level superior to the opponent, a win is essentially guaranteed.  Get two out of three advantage and that will be hard to beat.  Dominate in only one aspect and it is hard to…
