Mike Greene commented on Bill Stanton's blog post Has Tournament Baseball Improved the Landscape of Travel Ball?
"Bill, great post and absolutely 100% on the money. As a middle school head coach and  high school assistant coach, we see the exact same thing in South Carolina. There are far too many organizations running tournaments and players hopping from…"

Mike Greene commented on Bill Stanton's blog post Dabo Swinney takes little league coaching almost as serious as his day job
"Coach is exactly the same person no matter where you see him. He is intense, but geared towards the age level he is speaking to and yes, he is ALWAYS about family, accountability and God."

Mike Greene replied to Bill Stanton's discussion pitchers wearing sunglasses in the group Umpires
"Kip, I agree 100%. Having a young man throwing at a target he can't see would not benefit anyone. I imagine that there are groups out there that ban pitchers wearing sunglasses, but I can't imagine why. Probably the same group that decides…"

Mike Greene commented on Bill Stanton's blog post rule violation?
"Skip, I agree 100% on the rule knowledge situation. As a school and travel coach, I am amazed at how many coaches and umpires just don't know even some of the basic rules of the game. The ones that I get a kick out of are the ones that during…"

Mike Greene commented on Bill Stanton's blog post rule violation?
"Ray, I don't know that anyone is trying to justify what was done. Although I ca certainly see how it could happen without the coach's direct knowledge. Over the years I have spent a lot of pre-game time (especially on road games) as the…"

Mike Greene replied to Sarah Bernier's discussion What age should players start practicing with a wood bat?
"Sarah, a great question. As soon as a player is able to swing wood without the bat path dropping, they are ready to swing wood all the time. All of our guys swing wood for batting practice starting about age 9 or 10 depending on size and upper body…"

Mike Greene commented on Bill Stanton's blog post rule violation?
"I'm sorry, but if that isn't one of the dumbest rules I have ever heard of, then I don't know what is. It ranks right up there with the two hour drop dead time limit I have to deal with during school ball season. Whether home or away,…"

Mike Greene commented on Grant Clifford's blog post Environment. Teammates. Winning. ??
"Grant, if developing and getting better aren't priorities, then why are the kids playing travel ball? Not to sound harsh, but if they are looking for social time there are a lot of ways to cover it without it costing parents a lot of money. If…"

If you pitch, what type of pitcher are you... Power? Ground ball, Fly ball, Knuckleball?

Who is your favorite hitter and why?
Hank Aaron - the all time greatest homerun hitter in baseball. Others have hit more with help, but nobody did it better than Hammerin' Hank. His focus at the plate, especially during the racially charged era he played during, is an example that every hitter should follow.
Who is your favorite pitcher and why?
Michael Roth is my favorite current pitcher. His attitude, approach to the game and focus have taken him a lot farther than most would have predicted. He is a true team leader and takes time to mentor the guys coming up behind him.
More About Me:
I coach baseball to help young people learn to love the game and to improve their skills. I don't coach for money, although I don't hold it against those that do. I coach for the enjoyment of helping others find success.
