Hey everyone. I was just wondering if someone could give me some advice on how to throw a cutter. I have between a 3 quarter and sidearm slot and am finding it hard to get the ball to cut correctly.…Continue

Cheap Wood Bats

Started this discussion. Last reply by Kyle Grucci Aug 4, 2011. 1 Reply

Does anyone know where and how I can get wood bats for cheap? Currently, all I'm doing is going to Big 5 Sporting Goods and buying $20 Rawlings Adirondack bats one at a time. Any tips or advice?

Type of hitter... Power? Average? Slap? Pull?
I'm any kind of hitter needed. I can hit for power or average. I have power to both sides of the field, especially oppo power. I have an open stance and quick hands. Most of my hits are line drives to the gaps.
If you pitch, what type of pitcher are you... Power? Ground ball, Fly ball, Knuckleball?
I'm a ground ball, fly ball pitcher. I currently throw a mid 80s fastball, a 60 mph changeup, 65 mph curveball, and a 60 mph knuckle. I have a deceptive delivery with a 3 quarter arm slot.

Who is your favorite hitter and why?
Robinson Cano because he has the most pure swing in the game. He's a second basemen who hits hard for power every time. His swing is smooth every time and has great technique.
Who is your favorite pitcher and why?
Of all time, my favorite pitcher is Nolan Ryan because he was able to keep his power and dominance into his later years, something which is extremely rare in baseball. He was able to throw high 90s, even 100s at the end of his career. That's how great he was.
More About Me:
I've played baseball all of my life. In high school, I also played basketball and football. I am currently attending La Sierra University and will be a sophomore this coming year. I am 19 years old.

So, I will be attending the MLB Tryout Camp in Compton, CA this June. Does anyone have any tips or words of advice for me?

Defense Wins Championships

Posted on January 12, 2012 at 5:48pm 8 Comments

Defense is very underrated in this game. Not by the people who truly know its value, but more the casual fan and outsiders of the game. Everyone loves a derby. When a David Ortiz hits a bomb to deep center and over the fence, people go wild at every point in the game. But, when it comes to defense, most people are barely paying attention to notice that Asdrubal Cabrera just made another amazing stop. Or when Jered Weaver is pitching, most people only cheer when its the ninth inning. But as a…

Update: Summer Workouts

Posted on August 10, 2011 at 9:00pm 5 Comments

Hey everyone, Scotty Mak here with my personal update.

I'm in the middle of week 2 of my team baseball workouts. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, our team meets at the turf soccer field, does our running and plyometric drills, then head to the weight room to work out. It's a very positive environment right now and all the guys are getting along great, incomers and returners alike. The whole experience is working out great. We're even going to start having a yoga…

Getting Sponsored

Posted on August 5, 2011 at 2:46am 2 Comments

As I'm sure many people on here are, I'm a poor college student. So, I was wondering what I have to do to get sponsored. Free stuff is always good lol. Heck, discounts would be great too. I will take whatever I can get. Is anyone interested or can anyone help?
