Profile Information

Bats:
Right
Throws:
Right
Height:
5' 7"
Position(s):
P, C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS
Type of hitter... Power? Average? Slap? Pull?
hit for average with occasional power, hit to all fields, primarily a line drive hitter
If you pitch, what type of pitcher are you... Power? Ground ball, Fly ball, Knuckleball?
Finesse pitcher/mostly a ground ball pitcher; I have a 2-seamer, a curveball, a change-up (I hold it just like my 2-seamer, except I bury it in my hand to make it be a change-up... I can't throw a circle change), and a cutter/slider. I've been able to throw a splitter here and there in practice. I don't have a lot of velocity, so I rely on location/command and on my off-speed and breaking pitches... as well as feeding off the hitters' weaknesses to the best of my ability.
I currently:
Play Baseball, Enjoy watching games
Baseball Playing Experience:
Independent, 18+
Baseball Coaching Experience:
Independent, 18+
Softball Playing Experience:
Youth, High School, Fast Pitch
Who is your favorite hitter and why?
Placido Polanco... because he's a hitting genius... he hits for average, hardly strikes out, hardly walks, is unselfish, isn't a showboat.

Curtis Granderson is my other favorite hitter, because he can flat out hit and run. He's also not a showboat and is very intelligent with a great attitude.

Placido and Curtis are the quintessential baseball players both defensively and offensively, and they have the right attitudes and the right playing mentality.

The EWBC is a women's regulation baseball league, founded in 1990, that is made up of 5 teams in the Baltimore - Washington DC corridor. We are an IRS sanctioned non profit charity that is chartered to train girls and women for International baseball tournament competition.

This year, over Memorial Day, there is going to be a baseball competition for various age groups in Fairfax Virginia that is sponsored by, among others, the Washington Nationals, Fairfax Hospital, various Virginia…

Throw Like A Girl, a feature-length documentary

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 9:30am 0 Comments

Throw Like A Girl is a documentary about women and girls and their love of the game of baseball. Sadly, even today — in the United States of America — these ballplayers face discrimation often resulting in hazing and law suits, just because of their gender.

On August 22, 2010 the USA women’s baseball team won the bronze medal at the 4th International Women’s…

Please enter the
PM 500 Contest for a chance to win a PM Custom baseball Glove. Here's the one I had made below. We need to reach 500 entries by Columbus day for a glove to be awarded. It only takes a minute to enter. Thanks!

Well...for those who don't know...we are in 2010 and women are even allowed to run for president...just not play baseball in Boyertown, PA! Without me knowing,my dad called the athletic director and head coach for a meeting and would you believe that the coach actually said that he didn't pick me because I was a girl!!! Now there's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Lucky for him I don't want to make a team on a technicality. I struck out two of the best 12th graders, was praised up and down, but still couldn't find a spot on the 10th grade team! I know it sound like sour grapes, but I have faced 90% of the kids who made the team in REC ball and, not to boast, have blown them away in pitching and hitting. They know who they are and many have supported me and told me they thought it was a slam dunk that I would make the team. Oh well, Michael Jordan's high school coach is haunted everyday by cutting him from the team when he tried out...I can only hope for the same when my name is in the spotlight. Anyway...thanks for letting me vent. I am trying out for the 19U men's spring rec baseball team starting tomorrow and the coach has already asked me to make sure I bring my catcher's equipment...did I mention I can EVERY position...LOL. It's their loss in the end. Take care, Wynnie.

Hey Shawna,
I had the tryout of a lifetime! A week of good stuff, so to speak. I struck out 12th graders, hit all my spots, crushed the ball and made myself proud. Unfortunately, I don't think Boyertown, PA is ready for a female to be a part of their sacred high school baseball team. I was cut this morning and boy does it suck! Wynnie

Hey Shawna,
Tryouts are all week long and wrap up on Saturday. I feel great about how I'm doing...we will have to see what they think. As I told Tiff, you never know if they can get past me being a girl. I can certainly hang skillwise. I will keep you posted. Take care, Wynnie!

The field maint. guys are talented, hard working, and amazing...keeping it up and in pro level shape. The field we played at in Mexico was pretty scary though!!!! The stadium looked nice from the outside but was really sketchy... dry grass with green soggy spots around broken (?) sprinklers, a really rough infield wiht the worst lip I've ever seen (yes, EVER), and included a small hill that worked like a launching pad in front of first base. I understand they are going to fix it... we played against their new pro select team...and they will need a better field before the season for sure.
