Stefan McGovern replied to Dave Kirilloff's discussion Hardest Thing To Do In All Sports Is Being A Hitting Coach? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"any coach that considers himself a hitting coach would never tell a hitter to squash the bug... because the statement is completely incorrect. Once the front heel plants, the back knee drives towards the front knee transferring all the weight to the…"

Brent Vauclin replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"A swing has both linear mechanics and rotational mechanics.  The mechanics before starting the swing are linear and the mechanics after starting the swing are rotational.  Weight shift and momentum goes from back to forward just…"

Ted Browne replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"My opinion?  Most college and on down high school hitters are not 100% of either linear or rotational.  And if you look at most of the great hitters (Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, Hank A etc.) that hit for both power and average, they…"

Carl Nichols replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"The swing doesn't change according to pitch. It's the adjustment to the pitch that changes. If a hitter lands in a good hitting position, on time the adjustments will be made automatically."

Shawna Macurio replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"No prob. Maybe one day you'll become comfortable with admitting when you are wrong! LOL In my experience as both a student and an instructor, I have learned that it's an instructor's responsibility to explain things in ways that…"

Joe Citari replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"Define your rotational swing? Teaching a purely rotational swing is incorrect. Teaching requires a great many skills. Some young hitters need to learn how to get their lower half into the swing...squish the bug. Would I tell that to a college…"

S Wooten replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"Ichiro and Jeter have the same swing. They just get there doing different things. I love how everybody keeps saying Ichiro has a different swing."

Joe Citari replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"If you have ever watched video you know that getting your front foot down prior to initiating your is imperative. EVERY major league swing is predicated on this fact. It is impossible for a hitter (at any level) to have his foot in the air until the…"

Walt West replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"Because I am a man, I cannot utter the words "I was wrong", so I will simply say you are correct. I strongly believe that it is the instructors or teachers responisiblity to facilitate the learning and when they explain something and the…"

Shawna Macurio replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics
"Exactly. He also has enormous speed, which allows him to beat out so many infield ground balls and get more than a single out of OF grounders. And, yes, he is the most unconventional hitter today. I bet 99% of people wouldn't be successful with…"

Shawna Macurio replied to Stefan McGovern's discussion Why Don't All Coaches Teach Rotational Hitting? in the group Let's talk hitting Mechanics

More About Me:
I've been coaching for seven years, and I just recently moved to Denver to coach at Metro State, a Div II school. I came to Metro from Santa Barbara City College, where I coached for four years and played for two. Most recently, I was coaching in Alaska for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots which has opened an incredible amount of doors for me as a coach.
