Little League bat reviews?

Easton or Louisville Slugger are two good bats. Check out Dicks Sporting goods, they have great prices.

First base umpire can be consulted ONLY if plate umpire wants to. I've never seen a second base umpire get involved in swing or no swing. If PU asks 1B field umpire and 1B ump calls it no swing, that's it. The runner gets the base. Ball should be ru…

Exactly, Steven. So the umpires got the call right; they conferred to make sure they got the call right; and yet the SNY broadcasters criticized the crew for doing what they'd be criticized for NOT doing if they hadn't done it. I wonder how the Reds…

From what I understand and watching the replay several times, it was changed from a strike to a ball, it was changed because the ball hit the batter on the upper arm. So it's a dead ball, batter goes to first base. If he had swung at he pitch and it…

I and another umpire with whom I work frequently were listening when Ron Darling, announcing for SNY, said something to the effect that yes, the umpires go the call right, but they shouldn't have made it. HUH? What malarkey! When we get a call wron…

umpires need to put ego aside and make sure the right call stands.

It's about time MLB umpires made sure the call was right and didn't let their ego's get in the way. Good Work!!

Last nights game between NY Mets and Cin Reds. Not sure what inning, but a count of 2 balls 2 strikes. A high pitch inside, batter starts to swing and holds up. Ball hits batter on upper arm. He takes off for 1st base. Plate umpire calls batter out…

According to Little League rules umpires for Little League games are NOT paid (supposed to be volunteer), even though some communities do pay their umps.If you are a certified Little League umpire and you except pay for doing games you will be banne…

Dwight, your comment is in the rules, this would be interference, dead ball, runner out and all runners return to the base they were on except if forced. And if in the Umpires judgment two outs could have been made on the play, the Umpire could rule…

As an Umpire, I might consider this as unsporting and call obstruction. Even thought it's not listed in the HS rule book, you could consider this like a runner stopping in from of the shortstop for a second when the ball is hit to the shortstop so h…

By rule, a right handed pitcher must have his pivot foot (right) on the rubber, left handed must have left foot on the rubber for the set position once he starts his motion. If he hasn't started his motion and steps backwards off the rubber then it'…

Mark, you were right in the aspect that the pitcher must face the current batter as a right handed pitcher (he cannot switch in the middle of an at bat) since that's what he started as. Now what baseball rules are they using? If it's HS, Babe Ruth o…

Welcome to Checkswing, Steven! It's a great resource for umpires to connect and discuss wacky and not-so-wacky plays and find out what baseball events are taking place all over the world. I wound up umpiring a tournament in Hong Kong last month through a connection I made on the site, so you never know what can happen.

Glad you're joining us here, Steven, and I love it that your favorite player is Mickey Mantle. My brother Rocky and he share the same birthday, October 20th.

Warm regards,
Perry Barber
