Bottom line, if you want to know how well of a hitting coach you are there are two ways to measure your ability. 1. Take a player with average ability and turn him into a good hitter.(Anyone can work with a hitter with lots of ability.) 2. The hitte…

Eugene, I agree with a lot of what you said. But don't discount what Wooten is saying. Because if you look at slow motion video of any hitter you will see that his head moves. That isn't a theory it's a fact. The difference is how much a hitter hea…

Everyone's head moves when they hit. That's another one of those things that's being repeated that people really don't know about.

Actually I don't think styles have changed much since baseball began. There are just as many hitters with long strides as there were when Mickey Mantle played, Ichiro is one example. Every successful major league hitter, although having different st…

Rotational and linear mean nothing. There is only one way. That way is the way the best in the world do it. Thats where the truth is. If your after the truth then we should explore further.

I like your assesment that it's a marketing ploy to sell a system lol it's kind of funny. If you look up and read what I wrote I mention how many of the best hitters in baseball will use more linear sometimes than others when sitting on a pitch or t…

whew...where to jump in at? Talking rotational vs linear is a marketing ploy to sale a system. Period. All hitters do both. Some do it well some don't. What I do and have done since I was growing up and playing is copy what the best in the world do…

It really isn't an actual flaw, but a swing mechanic that can give any hitter more more. He does not load or specifically close up his whole front side as much as effecient to generate the most power. NOT only that, his swing appears to be dominated…

Rotational hitting was certainly not developed to sell books it is a science. It is the idea that your power is generated from rotating your body over an axis a deriving your power primarily from your core and your bat speed. These ALL LINEAR guys a…

Who is your favorite hitter and why?
Babe Ruth...think about it, He hit like over 350 when the ball was dead, his bat weighed fifty five ounces, and the parks were bigger, and he was half in the tank part of the time.
Who is your favorite pitcher and why?
I think basically Babe Ruth again, just because that is so darned rare and I'm a hitting guy in my heart, and of course my son because I'm so biased.
More About Me:
I am a professional batting instructor for the last sixteen years, mainly for youth league kids and girls fast pitch softball. I have instructed several college and adult leagure batters as well. It's been an incredible journey having the opportunity to conduct over 60,000 batting lessons! I teach the most modern techniques of compact rotational hitting that are now the standard at all major colleges. I have written two published books on hitting, "Baseball's Hitting Secrets" and a follow up second edition new for 2009. I have two batting cages in my backyard ( for hardball and fastpitch) and own six different pitching machines. I have two adult sons who are presently playing adult ball who were perennial all stars, one who was offensive mvp for his high school, and played a bit of college ball. Several of my students have gone on to scholarships">scholarships">scholarships">scholarships in college.

Ted,

After reading one of your posts I feel like a prematurely judged your philosphy based upon others things I saw you write. It seems that we have many of the same ideas of the proper swing. I guess I focused on your comment of the level swing and rotation and was a bit picky. After reading what you wrote about the "College Swing" I feel that we are both on the same page. You should stop referring to it as the college swing though and just start telling everyone it is THE RIGHT SWING :-). Let's talk some hitting sometime.

Hardcover is just my preference... it does not look worn quickly like a paperback can.

Thanks again Ted, If it wasn't for our dominant hitting (under your carefull instruction) we wouldn't have won our Division Crown! Can't wait to see what the future brings us now that the team is sold on your technics and approach to hitting, I can't thank you enough. Go Cali Kings!
