"so crazy that in one big swoop 20 million bats became illegal and a  non use product . A one piece ,solid wood bat is a bargain for youth players and others. 5 or 6 bats for the price of one composite bat."

Father's Day

Posted on June 21, 2015 at 8:49am 0 Comments

Happy Father's Day to all !! Please take time to play catch today with your children,in the yard,on the street. While you toss the ball around talk about the good year you have had and the good year to come. Loved playing catch with my sons and my dad. Uncle John was a great athlete though he lost a leg at 12. He played many sports in the 1940's at Brookline High:Baseball and hockey. Thanks to all dad's.

Gomes home run last night

It was very refreshing to see that an ash bat was used by Gomes to hit the game changing home run.

Hello everyone. Thank you to all who have welcomed me so far as a new member. I am an American who has been involved with baseball for over 50 years as a player, coach, and most recently a bat maker. My passion for this great game has only increased over those years. I recently retired to South America so my wife can be closer to her family. As I miss the good old USA,  I can not tell you how elated I was to find that baseball is alive and growing here in a Country where a short time ago there was only Futbol (soccer). I am presently coaching  an American team which is made up of mostly American college students studying abroad as well as some American Expats. Although the level of competition is world class, equipment such as bats is extremely hard to find. Therefore, I decided to purchase a lathe and make my own. It has been challenging with the limited resources here, but it has been a labor of love. To get to the point. I could really use some help from some experienced bat makers back in the states. At this point the biggest problem I am having is finding sprcs and dimensions for different turn models as there are not many bats here to copy. I am turning by hand so i could not use cad files. If anyone here would like to elp out American ballplayers away from home as well as help promote our great game it would be greatly appreciated. I am looking foward to sharing all our baseball experiences with the checkswing community. Thank you in advance.

I was wondering which finish is most effective for turning bats to get that shine I have been told both briwax and lacquer but thought I would ask someone who knows what they are talking about
