My Master Plan
Over the last few months, I've started to put together a master plan. A master plan of everything that we need to cover during the course of a season as coaches. This list is nowhere near complete but may help you in your quest this season to making practice plans. If you have some to add please email me (…

A Day at the Ripken Coaches Clinic

This past Saturday, Bill and I attended the Ripken Baseball Coaches Clinic at the high school in Milton, Massachusetts. Put on by former MLB players Cal Ripken Jr., Billy Ripken, and John Habyan, it was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Bat Rolling ?

Bat rolling has become wildly popular.

For some people they like to keep their index finger outside of the glove and for some people they like to keep their index finger into the glove. That’s…

Pitchers: Running Poles Bad ?

Catchers calling the game.

I am a high school coach and have been for 8 years now. I feel the high school catchers calling the game is the best tool for them to learn. They get in the flow of a game and learn what they should and shouldn't call. It all comes down to the pitcher's execution anyway. Even in the big leagues, pitches miss spots and hitters are supposed to hit mistakes. When a high school coach or college coach makes a call and they give up a hit do they get second guessed? If the catcher calls the game…
