Understanding the physical, visual and mental aspects of hitting.

As players we have heard from the time we first picked up a bat, "see ball, hit ball". While this is true what does it mean?What I try to make players understand is first understanding the strike zone, recognizing the pitch and knowing where to make contact with that pitch according to its location and spin. Starting Pitching: The Importance of Shutting Out an Opponent

The obvious answer to my statement is throwing a shutout is great because you will more than likely win the game. Only if your team is having trouble scoring runs, is there a chance you may be in trouble. But I’m not necessarily talking about games, more about innings.
