The Premier Baseball Social Network for Players, Coaches, Scouts, and Umpires

I wish I would have sold my baseball cards like my mom told me years ago. I have rookie cards for some great baseball players from the mid-1980s to early 2000s.

Jose Canseco
Rafael Paleirmo
Mark McGwire
Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens

What do these players have in common?

Obviously these guys are all tied to steroids.

Obviously this era and these guys put a black mark on the game.  Throughout the history of baseball, in every era you'll find certain players who were not good role models for various readers.  The game has persevered.

I am very excited about the future of the game. Sure, the 60-70+ HR season may be a thing of the past, but the level of play is outstanding. Innovation is everywhere in baseball...  in equipment, gear and most importantly training and coaching.

There is also a good crop of young players who are excellent role models. This is a good topic Tom. I look forward to hearing others opinion on this.  If you cut/paste your entire article here in your CheckSwing blog, you'll likely get a better response. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Bill, Thank you for commenting. It's such a shame this had to happen but like you said, baseball is moving on.
