After moving from my home town and hanging up my cleats, I thought my career in coaching wasn't going to start until after I had knocked out my degree. Yesterday much to my delight I spoke with the GM of the East AL Big Train of the Great South League (Top 20 College Wood Bat League) for about an hour and am now going to become a part of the coaching staff. This is a tremendous opportunity for me because it gives me the opportunity to get real on the job training with the best. I will even be handling the majority of the recruiting. Its even based out of the town im currently living in, so I will be able to keep my day job for the 2 month season. All my notebooks Ive filled with tidbits Ive picked up the past 5 years can now be put to good use! Well I am off to take a peek at a few guys. As I have found out from every coach I have talked to, the most important part f coaching is having really good players. I bid you adieu and if you happen to have a small town college kid near you who can bump 90 or hit a ball 450 feet let me know.
