I too was contacted by Marc Collat regarding Mauritius Softball in South Africa. My offer was too good to be true at $16,000.00 per month, a car, and a house. Marc became belligerent during e-mail conversations when I questioned why I needed to send money when I had contacts in DC that could handle Visa and work arrangements. At that point he stopped contacting me.
A couple months later I was contacted by someone that claimed to be a player at the facility from the UK that wanted me to reconsider and begin working on coaching there. When I started asking a number of questions, she questioned me as to why I was asking so many questions about the facility and Marc. I have not heard from her after three days of back and forth e-mails.
After contacting the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and the International Softball Federation, I was informed there was a similar scam in basketball by Marc Collat. They recommended no communication.
There are many blogs now regarding Marc Collat and all the stories are the same. The Mauritius Complex is apparently a fraud. No sponsors know of the operation and no board of directors are available to communicate with. African officials also do not know of the operation.
