The Premier Baseball Social Network for Players, Coaches, Scouts, and Umpires

Safety in baseball is important from youth leagues to the big leagues and every league in between. Hitters have batting helmets made with strong, lightweight materials to protect their head. Catcher's gear has improved greatly from the hockey style mask/helmet to chest protectors and leg guards made with strong, durable materials.

This is great for the game of baseball, but what about pitchers? Pitchers stand anywhere from 40 feet to just over 60 feet from the batters box. We've all seen the videos of pitchers being struck by a line drive and it's not pretty.
SST Baseball (Safer Sports Technology) has developed a new product to protect pitchers.

SST lightweight composite Head Guards for pitchers are designed to reduce the risk of severe head injury while being comfortable and without distraction. The SST Head Guard is inserted into the sweat liner located on the inside of the hat.  Cage tested at 94 MPH and made from Carbon Fiber, the SST Head Guard protects the exposed side of the head from impact due to a pitcher’s motion and natural reaction.

SST Baseball wants to protect your pitching staff.
We are going to choose one pitching staff to receive five sets of SST Head Guards.

I am all for safety in baseball. However, it's equally important to teach and implement how to use the glove or lead arm in the correct follow-through so it's ready to catch or deflect a line shot to the face or head less than 54' away away from the the pitcher. Shorter, of course at the lower levels, but still needed as part of an efficient follow-through.
