Southwick Dirt Dogs capture 2nd Title in 3 Years

September 26, 2011 - 10:33 PM McKenzie Field, Holyoke, MA - The Southwick Dirt Dogs overcame an early 3-0 deficit to defeat the Enfield Warriors 13-8 and claim their 2nd WMWBL Title in the past 3 years. The Dirt Dogs, who won the regular season championship were the #1 seed in the playoffs. They defeated the Palmer Knights 2 games to none to move onto the League Championship Series. The Warriors, the #5 seed, defeated the Westfield Wolverines and the Springfield Senators on their way to the series. This was the third consecutive year that the rivals have met in the finals. Southwick took game 1 behind the strong pitching of Bryan Biuso, 7-4. In game 2, Enfield turned a 3-3 game in the sixth into a 9-3 advantage by scoring 6 runs with timely hitting and with the help of some Dirt Dog miscues. In game 3, the warriors jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Southwick would come back to tie the game at 3. The teams would then exchange leads again before the Dirt Dogs erupted for 6 runs in their half of the 6th. Adam Parisien came on to pitch the final 4 innings for the Dirt Dogs and shut the Warriors down.
